The Household Count
Pets and service animals
If officials order an evacuation, the pet goes too. A public shelter is not the pet plan. Food and water stay “several days.” This page does not print a gallon number for an animal.
Each pet
Copy this block for each pet. Leave it blank when no pet lives here.
Service animal, a separate line
Public shelters generally accept service animals. Many public shelters and hotels do not allow pets. This page cannot promise that a shelter will admit a pet, or that a bed will be open. A large animal gets its own plan only if one lives here. Leave that row blank otherwise.
Fiction. Not your house.
The apartment sample has one dog and no service animal. The dog gets several days of the food and water that dog already eats. No gallon is printed. The destination is a place that accepts pets, written in advance, and it is not “the public shelter.” No medicine name is printed for the dog.
